This picture was taken after one of the earlier shows on Jake’s solo run. It was late night after the show at Backstage Cafe in Norfolk, VA and we managed to snap a few in the emptying dining room before they closed for the night.

American swimmer Natatlie Coughlin will be in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Natalie is a eleven-time Olympic medallist, three of which being gold medals. We were lucky to cover a shoot with Natalie back when she won the gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for the 100 meter backstroke. This picture sequence was taken a few hours before Jake headed to JFK to leave for his 2011 Spring/Summer European Tour. At the time and still today, I’m inspired by the work of Eadweard Muybridge. De Beers 5th Ave  - NY, NY

This past Friday Social Shutterbug photographed an event for De Beers, one of the leading jewelry companies. De Beers is partnering with A-list wedding planner Colin Cowie with his recent wedding contest. The contest gave the chance for four lucky couples to win an extravagant wedding planned by Cowie. De Beers provided the couples with wedding rings of their choice Friday night while enjoying some champagne, cupcakes and diamonds. The couples have come from all over the States for this once-in-a-lifetime event - from California, Connecticut, Alaska, to good old New York. Amongst the couples are the first two same-sex couples to get married at the Empire State Building. The couples will be tying the knot today! A Valentine’s Day they are sure not to forget!

Lincoln Center – NY, NY

Social Shutterbug headed back to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this past Saturday to again catch China Gaze working behind the scenes – this time with designer Porter Grey. Porter Grey, a American contemporary sportswear line, was founded and run by sisters Kristen and Alexandra O’Neill. This time not only were we able to catch the models getting their nails, hair and make-up done, but also got to see the presentation of Porter Grey’s brand new look for this coming Fall. A little background on this photo: This picture was taken in Astoria, NY at Sound Works Studios. It was August 3, 2011 and Jake was up rehearsing for some upcoming shows. He caught the red-eye bus up from Virginia Beach and we met at the studio. This was shot after the session. So very honored that you chose to use this pic for such a huge personal announcement – it’s one for the history books!

On Thursday the 9th,  Social Shutterbug was spotted at Lincoln Center where the Mercedes-Benz’s Fashion Week is being held from the 9^th – 16^th of February. Social Shutterbug  primarily  photographed models of fashion designer Tadashi Shoji having their nails done by China Glaze. The atmosphere was intense backstage as everyone rushed to make the 2pm show time. Here’s just a peak at what was going on

Radio City Music Hall – NY,NY

On Thursday, January 26th, singer-songwriter Antony preformed with his band Antony and the Johnsons at Radio City Music Hall. The concert was commissioned by the MoMA. Antony preformed popular songs from their album “SWANLIGHTS” that was released on October 12, 2010. From his costume, to the stage design, to the lighting, it made for a spectacular artistic performance.

The performance, pre show reception, and after party drew an audience of well known faces of the  art community. Amongst them were MoMA directors Glenn Lowry and Klaus Biesenbach, actress Tilda Swinton, Andre Balazs, artists Terence Koh and Laurel Nakadate, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Stipe, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Ruediger Glatz, Alan Cumming, Nadine Johnson, Penn Badgley and more.

The Museum of Modern Art – NY,NY

The Friends of Education of The Museum of Modern Art presented “Conversations: Among Friends” with artists Derrick Adams, Clifford Owens, Xaviera Simmons and Mickalene Thomas. The conversation centered around the artist’s philosophy regarding collaborating on projects and topics such as how they approach everything from  find subjects to how they overcome the temptation to just stay in their studios and create. The conversation lasted a little more than an hour and was followed by a cocktail reception.
