Back in 2006 Castle Connolly Ltd. created an award to be given out to nominated physicians throughout the America. “The National Physician of the Year Awards recognizes both physicians and leaders in healthcare whose dedication, talents and skills have improved the lives of countless thousands of people throughout the world. This event is a tribute not only to the awardees but to the excellence of the many thousands of practicing physicians throughout the nation.” (source)

Some of the doctors and physicians recognized were Dr. Steve Salvatore, Dr. Richard Edelson, Dr. Susan MacKinnon, Dr. John Morton, Dr. Robert Brent, Dr. John Clarkson, Dr. William Liss-Levinson, and Marlo Thomas.

THE WORLD STAGE: ISRAEL OPENS AT THE JEWISH MUSEUM

New exhibition by artist Kehinde Wiley opens

Artist Kehinde Wiley has opened his exhibition The World Stage: Israel last Friday (March 9th). Wiley is displaying 14 exquisite paintings with intricate hand carved wooden frames. The paintings are portraits of Israli men done in a unique style inspired by a traditional Jewish papercut in the Museum’s collection. The portraits depict young Israeli men from different ethnic groups and religious affiliations with unique backgrounds influenced by Jewish ritual art. The work was bought in honor of The Jewish Museum’s recently retired director Joan Rosenbaum. The exhibition will be on display until July 29th.

Working with mass retailer Jones New York Gordon has released a springtime capsule collection (a number of clothing articles that can be mixed and matched to form several different outfits). During New York Fashion Week Elizabeth & James clothing line held a private fall preview for the press and editors. Elizabeth & James is Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson’s clothing line. Launched in 2007, E&J is a contemporary collection inspired by many of the twin’s unique vintage finds and pieces in their personal wardrobes.

THE WHITNEY 2012 BIENNIAL MARKS 76th IN SERIES

February 28th & 29th (Two Day Opening)

The Whitney Museum – NY,NY

The 2012 Whitney Biennial opened this week over the course of two days – the exhibit features sculpture, painting, installations, photography, dance, theater, music, and film. The 51 artist line-up showcases artists at different points in their careers and marks the seventy-sixth in the ongoing series of Biennials and Annuals. These have been presented by the Whitney since 1932.

Some notables at the opening included artist Chuck Close, actor Paul Dano and actress Parket Posey.

Elisabeth Sussman, Curator/Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney, and Jay Sanders, a freelance curator and writer who has spent the past ten years working both in the gallery world and on independent curatorial projects selected the artists.

NATALIE MODELS SWIMSUITS FOR SPORTS ILLUSTRATED

American swimmer Natatlie Coughlin will be in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Natalie is a eleven-time Olympic medallist, three of which being gold medals. We were lucky to cover a shoot with Natalie back when she won the gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for the 100 meter backstroke.
